Download Pimsleur - Learn Language Fast 3.1 for iPhone/iPad by Simon & Schuster directly from Apple Appstore. This app version requires iOS 4+ to be able to install and run.
The program itself I love! It’s a very convenient way to learn a language. However, the app needs serious work. It constantly crashes every few minutes and makes it impossible to get through a lesson.
Honestly this is the only app I’ve ever rated and it is 100% worth the 20$ if you are serious about learning a new language.
Great for memorization
I’m actually shocked at how much I’ve learned. It gives me hope that if I complete more lessons and stick with it I could actually go to Paris and communicate pretty well. I could never pronounce French and now I have a feel for the language. It’s really cool.
I’ve only completed two lessons, but I’m finding it very easy to follow. I like the repetitive nature of the app. I like that it gives you enough time to repeat what is said, but not too much that you’re not thinking instinctually. Much better than the other app that I’ve tried.
This is how you learned to speak your mother tongue.
Pretty good over all. I am annoyed the people talk to fast at points making it harder to understand. Also the app only shows level 1 and I wanted both level 1 and 2 of the language I am learning.
Able to learn common phrases pretty quickly from the way it teaches me!
I used the Pimsleur audiobooks in high school, and they were fantastic! Glad to see they’ve made an app now, and it is super easy to use and even better than the audiobooks. It makes learning another language easy and fun.
The service itself is phenomenal! But the app on any device definitely needs work. 1. You can easily download lessons, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to offload them? 2. Once you’ve started a lesson, scrubbing backwards or forwards is a lot more difficult than it needs to be (in terms of the app registering your touch) 3. I’m currently learning Portuguese. Transitioning from Lvl 1 to Lvl 2 wasn’t super seamless. There was some obvious continuity failure. Lvl 2 started off assuming I knew vocab that hadn’t been gone over in Lvl 1 and retaught other vocab I had already learned. Other than this, it’s truly an amazing service. It’s helping me learn much faster and more naturally than any other language learning software i’ve tried.
