I love the game and I played it every day until one day when I went on it showed a thanks for playing screen meaning I couldn’t play any more so I had to delete it and I just found out today that it came on again so I’m hoping it’s gonna save my last game because I got really far.

This game is fun!… however, there are some reasons why I am rating it at 3 stars instead of 5.

Story: the story mode is broken up into Seasons with Season 2 being the current and unfinished one as of this review.
Season 1 is pretty typical of Digimon as the human characters meet their digital partners and proceed to figure out what’s going on.
Season 2 is a little more all over the place and introduces a few new characters.

Gameplay, oh man is the gameplay simple. Easiest game to just pick up and run with. Love it. Select attacks and the digimon uses it… though you can not select a target. Turn on the auto mechanic and it’s 100% hands free DURING BATTLES. Otherwise, select a mission and go. Now I will say the auto feature is random, there is no AI or pattern to your teams attack sequence.

Menus are all over the place for various activities in which to engage. Most of which are simple because the interface rarely deviates, meaning most screens you understand what to click on at all times just 10min after starting. Very simple and clean.

Resources… oh boy there are a bunch. So, let’s focus on the main three; Stamina, Rubies, and Battle Points.

This game works off of stamina, which in most games is a hard pass for me because that usually means real money for more stamina. However, here it works simply because the amount of stamina refills you will collect through out the various play modes makes this not as annoying as other games. Seriously, I have used somewhere around 100-200 of these and still have 90+ in my inventory.

Rubies; not the actual name but you’ll see why I call them Rubies when you see the icon. These are what you get for meeting various requirements and are the primary resources to get new Digimon. These are also the primary cash shop item… that really isn’t worth the price. Why? Well the summoning of new Digimon to join your team requires 20 for one summon or 200 for eleven. Keep that in mind.

Battle Points are what you need for the “PvP” in this game. There is no way to get more, you just have to wait roughly 2hrs for these to build back up much like your stamina.

On the topic of PvP… it’s miss leading. It’s more like putting your team against an AI controlled team of your opponent. Basically your team gets saved to a cloud and if you happen to be the one selected for a battle then an AI controls that team. Though saying AI isn’t exactly correct. Again, they just use random attacks.

Getting new Digimon is were I want to focus your attention on the low rating. It’s a lottery. You have ZERO control over this. The way it works is they have rotating sets of Digimon grouped together. When you pick a set you will only get Digimon from that set each with different % on the likelihood of getting a Digimon within that set. With how slowly you get Rubies this DOES NOT sit well with me. There are some you can go and buy IF you have the required resources for it, some of these resources are either hard to come by or have no way of farming them for the insane costs… now some of them come in the form of eggs which you will have to raise up to it’s highest form… but they only have a 10% chance of being that specific Digivolution. The risk/reward of getting new Digimon isn’t there. It’s just a lottery.

All digimon come with a pre-set evolution path. Even if you get the Digimon in a chain you want there is no guarantee it’ll have the evolution chain you want.

At $20. for enough rubies to do an eleven Digimon summon with only 1% chance of getting the one you want… yeah it’s not worth the cost when you can get those rubies just by playing the game.

The cash shop is not worth it. This lottery method of summoning Digimon you either want or are more powerful than what you currently have is more frustrating than is worth the effort. Now you can “sell” the Digimon you don’t want for a specific resource type that will allow you to get one of the various eggs, however, not only do you get very little in that resource but the cost of one egg is high enough I have yet to get one with nearly 6 months of game time and dozens of sold Digimon from summoning the same batch over and over hoping to get a less than 1% summon.

Now, with that aside this game tries to play as an RPG… er… well it tries. All levels are handled by you the player through a couple of actions. These actions are kind of pointless but are necessary to level your Digimon up.

Let’s take a level 1 Digimon and hopefully walk you through the process. First up you level this Digimon up to level 10 via the upgrade menu. Now at lvl 10 you need to “awaken” it’s next set of ten levels… you do this by leveling up it’s predetermined stat boost. Er… ok… what was the point in leveling up a predetermined stat boost? IDK. Now, go back and upgrade it’s level to 20. Hmmm… ok. At this point most Rookie Digimon will have a Digivolution to it’s Champion stage. Now back to upgrade where you can level it up to 40. Back and forth you go through menus leveling it’s actual level, stats, and rank (rookie, champion, mega, and whatever is after this depends on IF it’s available to that digimon… most will stop at mega). Honestly I wish all of this process was on one screen… however on a mobile I can see why they did this… but it also seems kind of pointless to have all the levels broken up into chunks of 10 until you get to 99… which is a whole other animal afterwards.

Digivolution also cost yet another resource you will have to collect as you play. Each Digimon has an elemental type and you need certain resources of “X” amount of each in order to digivolve. For instance Dark Bronze, Dark Silver, and Dark Gold items for a Dark type and Electric for Electric types, etc…

Ok typing in this game is very confusing and leads to some odd out comes. Every Digimon has two types; Elemental and Personality. If you have the right Elemental type but the wrong Personality… you could very well lose the fight…..

I am a huge digimon fan and a fan of gacha games. Some would call me a whale. Either way this game just isn’t fun. The novelty of this game quickly excuses itself within the first hour of game play. I played it when it first came out and tried again recently. It’s just not fun and from the gacha discord’s I am in they all find this game extremely time consuming and boring. If you like digimon or gachas I would not recommend this game to you.
