  • Don’t get this game. Waste of time

If you play this for a long time your game will eventually reset. This is done on purpose so they can “have season’s”. It is a waste of time and money because all your hard work is erased with out you wanting it to. If you buy anything from them you are basically giving your money directly to them. You don’t get anything in return. If you play games and then sell the accounts it’s a waste of your time. In the end don’t waste your time with this game. The game does have something that most other games don’t but still it is a waste of your time and money.

Lord of The Rings: Rise to War is a very enjoyable game and I’ve had a lot of fun playing it. However, there are a few problems that I hope are addressed in the future:

    1) While I understand why there should be a “switch faction feature” it encourages players to abandon ship when their faction starts to do poorly. A solution could be that players loose the ability to switch factions earlier on in a season.

    2) Commanders should be able to have more than 3 kinds of troops. I feel this hurts the overall gameplay, and really limits the variety of troop types you can use. They should also be able to be reinforced by different troops than the ones they currently have.

    3) The conscription and healing time for troops is very long.

Don’t get me wrong this game is fun I enjoy it, but all over social media the advertisements show this game as being a tower defense game or an rpg which is not what this is. Show real game footage in your social media advertisements the false advertisements make your game look like just another joke. Be proud of the product your advertising campaign is shameful.

This game does a great job at allowing for complex strategic warfare between LOTR factions. They paid good respect to the lore while doing so.
  • Good direction, needs balance

I think I can safely say I enjoy the game but I have a few problems. It’s fun to build your base up and have your armies, as well as build your territory. I enjoy the season reset feature, so that no one player or faction can continuously build up and stomp others, or get too strong and stop new players from building up. However, this is where the bad starts. I put in the hours, and built up my base and got to a decent spot, maxed everything out and afterwards felt like “man this is going to be epic.” I thought all this as I proceeded to get stomped by all the beta players in 1 single faction, the beta players who got to start with 200k+ gems right off the bat, and unlocked basically every character instantly, and proceeded to steamroll the rest of the server, holding everyone at sword-point making them fight or face complete annihilation within the first week. By the time the rest of the factions had a commander hitting level 30 or 40, they had completely maxed out commanders with over half the map under their control. Mind you they were also playing Rohan, and it seems good had ABUNDANTLY greater units than evil. Honestly evil units feel like they don’t do ANYTHING against good units, you can have 1 good army take out 5 evil ones and maybe suffer 10% casualties. Even with a good comp, (or the best one you can get playing evil) it’s so hard to win. The loot system is terrible as well. I think in total my entire faction has 5 people with legendary commanders, I haven’t gotten a single one and I’ve been playing literally since the first minute the server started, and I’ve opened well over 200 boxes. Mind you I also haven’t even gotten an epic commander either. Yet somehow every member of the Good factions has seemingly all the legendary commanders. It feels like they so one-sidedly gave Good so many buffs and benefits while giving evil nothing or the bare minimum to call it a faction. It’s sad when 2 Good-side players can steamroll an entire Evil faction bc their units and commanders are just so much better. I hope with S2 they fix this, I doubt they will but I truly hope. I also hope to god they increase the chances to get legendary or epic commanders out of the chests. For what it costs to open those things we need some better payout. I said a lot of negatives but I still enjoy the game, I just think it needs a looooooooot of balancing and work.

On my iPad Air the games drops out just after the splash screen. I can’t find a place to get tech support. I’ve also tried the game on my Android t1 with the same results.

Until I can find tech support I have to play on my iPhone 12, and the game looks awesome, but I can barely see all the items on the menu at the top of the screen.
  • Best LOTR Game Out There

I'm so thrilled this game is out! I've played various Middle-Earth based games out there and this one is just more together and fun to play than most.

The only thing I would ask for is that there was some sort of mini-game (or games) in it where you could gain very small amounts of XP for commanders (or some other resource) but be able to play it as much as you wanted. It would make for a fun way to kill time in the app while you're waiting for buildings to be constructed or troops to be conscripted, etc.

Overall, though I'm very please with this game and will be looking forward to gaining more commanders and troop types. Hopefully there will be updates from time to time with even more commanders from the books and movies.
