Great for keeping track… Well, far out and easy to use… Only a small small learning curve.
I’ve used LoseIt for years as a major component of my weight and health management. It is a great app and I pay for the premium services to track things like glucose and other details you can’t get in the free version. It’s easy to use and really does what it says it will do. However, for the past 2-3 years I have been experiencing worsening problems with the app in iPhone while having the app connected to Apple Health and my Apple Watch. I have raised this issue with support in the past, to no avail. Lately the app has been particularly slow and difficult to use on iPhone - frozen screens, slow to load, slowness switching screens, unable to search meals tab without the app freezing completely requiring me to close it and restart. I contacted support, and they advised they have no fix for this and do not anticipate having one any time soon, and that the answer is to disconnect Apple health and my watch from the app. Unfortunately that defeats the purpose of the Apple Watch for me, which is to be able to seamlessly and accurately track my workouts in the app. I do not have any of these issues with the iPad version of the app. Unfortunately this means I am forced to reconnect apple health and my Apple Watch, and just deal with the latency. I hope support fixes this issue in the future.

With the start of a critical to my health weight loss program this past December I decided I needed to keep better track of my food intake. Went back to an app I used in the past and quickly realized that the new version made it beyond difficult to use. So I switched to Loose It. Within a couple of days I liked it enough to spring for a year subscription to the premium version. And now I’ve discovered the “recipe function”! In past diets when I prepared a home cooked recipe I had to add the ingredients to my log individually with much guesswork. Loose It allowed me to create and save a recipe, and set how to measure its portions. An example? I just created a recipe for a batch of sausage & peppers. I was able to add the ingredients the way I’m most comfortable with: by weight! And then I set the recipe size based on adding the weights of the ingredients. And now I can weigh out a portion of the finished dish. Update 1/31/2023 One problem I’m running into occasionally is foods where the only measurement choice is “serving” - without a serving size mentioned at all! However, this has been an issue with every calorie counter I’ve ever looked at - including going back to the age of using a paper log and a book of nutrition info.

I used MyFitnessPal for over 8 years and loved it, mostly for the simple integration with other apps and services. The cost got to be too much so I tried this app and love it! I did pay for the premium as the cost to benefit is worth it to me. The only reason I am only giving 3 stars is because the app is constantly freezing on me. I need to force quit and re open every time I want to input anything. It’s minor, but also very frustrating.
I love the app and all of it’s features, but it’s missing the option to set a goal to GAIN WEIGHT. I’m at the tail end of my cut and am so excited to start bulking, so I was a bit disappointed to see that the same motivational features for losing weight won’t be there to gain weight. It’s still a great app but this simple addition would make this absolutely PERFECT!
This app has helped me be accountable and stay accountable. For some reason, just recently a friend told me they couldn’t see my workouts. Then they saw it but couldn’t comment. I checked all privacy settings and dont say why it was happening. Thats been the only problem I’ve experienced. Overall it is a really good tool for fitness and weight loss. I hope something gets done about my activity log though.
