Fix that stupid verify cards because me a lot of people that I know are having the same problem the system can’t verify the credit cards.

OfferUp is a fun service as I’ve been a user of theirs for years. But sadly they struggle with constant issues.
1.) Their A.I. bots ban users for innocent things. OfferUp has always struggled with notification alerts, so it’s not unheard of for a user to want to share their phone number, email, or maybe even a web link. Their bot will silently intercept and take action against your account. There should be a way to work around this or at least find a fast solve. Instead you have to email OfferUp support to then receive a canned answer 24-48 hours later. Just the other week, my own account was shadowbanned without reason. I had no idea. I have over 200+ reviews, all 5-star. Yet I got no notifications from OfferUp and missed a ton of good deals.
2.) They need to do away with “low-ball” reportable actions. The term “low-ball” is subjective and doesn’t always apply to each listing. Many times over, users post used items priced higher than they are/were new and will say, “no low ballers”. Yet, if you offer a fair market value price, which just so happens to be half the asking price, you could be reported for “low balling.” Again, you offering a fair market value price could get you reported because the seller is delusional.
3.) OfferUp needs to give a “trusted seller” status to users with a long history, many reviews, TrueYou validated, and in good standing. As a trusted seller, a user should be able to provide links without hassle (eg: reviews, official product web pages, etc).
4.) Fraud is on the rise (eg: “it’s my birthday so I’m giving this away,” or, “this belonged to my father who just passed away…”). New users without TrueYou verification should be put into some sort of probation-period/delay. They could also leverage trusted volunteer users to help circumvent this nonsense, much like Nextdoor does with designating Neighborhood Leads. Regardless, something has to be done.
5.) OfferUp takes on the federal government obligation of reporting sellers who supposedly ‘earn’ a certain amount in a year. However, OfferUp never asks closing prices. So if a user lists something for $100, but accepts $60 cash, OfferUp will still log your account as selling for $100. This can add up if a seller is ambitious, but accepts lower offers. This isn’t good as it sets their users up for tax audits.
6.) My god, please please please please remove the, “Check out this item on OfferUp,” text template when sharing a listing to a friend. Sure, I personally remove that text and type my own when sharing an OfferUp link. But none of my friends delete it before sending it to me. A preview loads of the listing in the Apple Messages app, so the “check out this item,” text is nothing but excessive clutter on my devices. One would think that the link alone is all the nudge one needs to check it out. But no, that pretext has to always be included, flooding my Message queue. Just …*sigh*… please get rid of it. It’s unnecessary and ridiculous.
7.) Last, but certainly not least: Ads. I get why. I wholeheartedly understand that OfferUp has to find a way to keep the lights on, pay employees, and bring forward more enhancements like I’ve suggested above. But for the love of all that’s holy: Please fix some of these ads that take you out of the app when you glance at it the wrong way. I’m an Apple One Premier subscriber, and I’m tired of being taken into my Music app to subscribe. I’m also growing tired of closing 10 open tabs for Little Caesars in my Safari browser as breathing on the ad takes you out of OfferUp. It’s almost like OfferUp is committing fraud against their advertisers by falsifying actual ad clicks. Because, I swear on my kids’ lives: I never intentionally touch these ads, especially someone like me on long-term Keto with an Apple One Premier membership.
Outside of that, I love OfferUp. But I do find that I curse at the app far more than I enjoy using it. It has a pretty UI, but is riddled with flaws and bugs that sour the user experience.

Does this app still works??? I have been trying to create a account and it’s unsuccessful. Keep saying try again later
  • Banned

    By Taylor Kors
The app keeps banning my accounts . I made another account after the first one got banned. I haven’t done anything wrong so I don’t know why this keeps happening
  • New update ruined it

    By Steamface john
With the new update and the app randomly turns off any background audio apps I have playing. I typically will be listening to a podcast or music while using the app and it keeps stopping the audio. This makes the app pretty much unusable by me, and is really sad to see. It’s possible that it’s related to the giant new video ads that came in with the update but I never hear any ad audio and the stopping doesn’t necessarily correlate with when those ads appear in my feed.
  • suggestion for the app

    By kbfromlb
I would like to suggest a way to easily display the price with the lead picture to save shoppers time and give them a chance to compare at a glance with out having to delve into each ad to find out if they can afford the item.
  • Hard to find *real* sellers, a lot of scams

    By I <3 America
It's basically a den of thieves with some honest people. I've bought some great stuff but I have to dig through a lot of spammy posts. The app is an annoyance; I use the website.
  • Dumb ads and fake messages

    By TinTin858585
It’s filled with dumb ads of full price items. If I wanted to pay full price I know where to get them and would use this app! Lots of mon responding people with post that are over a year old. And your stupid notifications Are not messages!
