  • Duolingo is the worst language learning app

    By sakurasakura0742764
Why do you give us five hearts and when we lose them, one heart takes four hours, which means 20 hours to complete all hearts, this is too much. You are very careful about any mistake. We are beginners, not professionals. If you say you can click on the word and show its meaning, then my answer is, we learn, not to cheat. Also, why are these many notifications so that I do not lose my enthusiasm that it will not help me in anything and why should I play daily so as not to lose my enthusiasm and what The benefit of enthusiasm is if it does not benefit me in anything, neither in learning nor in memorizing, and you should not force us to play the game daily. I told the truth, no more, and I advise you to delete this application. I do not want any problems. I said my opinion
  • Word order not explained well in German

    By Msdio
The explanations in grammar and sentence structures in German are deficient. It does not explain why “nicht” sometimes goes right after “kann” but sometimes goes to the end before the verb. The exercises only make things more confusing, without the explanations. Similarly problem for time, place, manner, “leider”. It’s frustrating.
  • Great app

    By Lyv H
Duolingo is a great app! I’ve been using it for years without a subscription (this year I finally bought a script with it) and it’s been so helpful. At the time I was dating a Brazilian, so having the app to practice phrases & learn from the basics has been incredibly helpful. I use the app for about 15 minutes a day and I feel like I’ve not only accomplished something but it is helping keep the info in my brain.

Won’t work well on iPad even after several updates.
  • Afraid to Update

    By BandGeek727
I love Duolingo, it’s been a great app. However, I am hesitant to update my phone because I’ve seen what the new update looks like and I really don’t like it. I don’t like how the path setup isn’t organized by category.

  • DISLIKE New Format and Disproportionate Homosexuality

    By Kellyd68
I am like others who have recently received the new updated format. It’s hard to find the areas to review past learning. I still have the older version on my phone and I am unable to find the lessons that are incomplete on my iPad. If it changes on my phone, I’m done with this and I’ll find another app to learn with.
Also, I have to agree with many others about the disproportionate amount of homosexual discussions.

  • Started amazing and fun, but…

    By Channel 518_YT
I began the Spanish course in September, 2021 and almost immediately found myself addicted with the well-paced, puzzle-solving aspect of the app. I learned so much, so easily, and I didn’t view it as schoolwork. It was really fun and rewarding.
Now, too many changes are being made already. I’d thought it was actually very beneficial to be able to learn more than one Skill at once, both for memorization and to not get burnt out, but now there’s a specific path we have to follow, one topic at a time, and the stories in the middle of them include words that we’ve never heard and make it more difficult to follow along. And the Mastery Quiz, which posed fun and genuinely challenging phrases, has been removed.
The original Time Challenges are also only available two days of the week, replaced by a much less enjoyable Match Madness that I feel doesn’t really help me learn much. I used to spend so much time doing Time Challenges, memorizing up to 20 words in a week, but I’ve barely learned anything in the last month because it hasn’t been enjoyable/worth it.
Please bring back the Time Challenges at least, or maybe give the option to choose which challenge to play. And it would be really cool if we could choose the difficulty of the Time Challenges, so we don’t have to spend so much time on basic phrases from what’d been Unit 1 and 2, before the big change.
However, thank you for an amazing and easy way to learn other languages. I know there are so many intricate things going on behind the scenes, and you always have the best intentions to improve learning.
May Yahweh bless y’all at the company and everyone who reads this!
