  • Great Hiking App for a newbie

    By Father Russell
Being that I am brand new to hiking and a little worried of getting lost, running out of water, or not locating key point on the trail. This app helped me get through some of my worries. It is spot on to where road crossing, camp sites and scenic views are. Also I think it is well priced for what other apps offer. I also had a small issue (user error) downloading a section of the AT and the customer service was perfect.
  • Best long trail app

I can’t imagine walking 1000 miles without it.
  • Worthless would be the Camino App.

    Not cool.

You should refund people's money that app is useless.
  • Fantastic navigation tool

After watching my friends us FarOut on the JMT I bought and used it on the 500 mile Camino Frances. What a fantastic tool to not only keep us on the right trail but to give us information on resources ahead of us and the mileage to everything we needed. The elevation map was super helpful and the ability to switch back and forth between map views was really helpful. No doubt I’ll use this app for all future backpacking and long distance walking!

The Grand Canyon FarOut guide is a must if you’re a private boater. More details and photos than any of the other guides out there. I also love the ability to create your own waypoints and I appreciate reading comments from other boaters that give me additional insight into trip conditions.

  • Search and mileage

I would like to see a search bar to find specific points without scrolling up and down. Also, it would be nice to see mileage between points one hasn’t reached yet as it helps with planning
  • Best Hiking app - indispensable

I wouldn’t go hiking without the FarOut app! I use it both for planning my hike and on the hike itself. The trail maps are worth every penny. The support is great as well - prompt and helpful. I could essentially reiterate all of the other five star reviews, and I highly recommend this app.
  • Massive downgrade from Guthook

This app has deteriorated so badly. It lacks detail that used to be there eg campsite locations, doesn’t show elevation on selected points, and generally is visually extremely clumsy. I found the original Githook to be extremely useful on many of my through hikes, this version is a waste of time. I’ll stick to Gaia.
